Social Day Run - Gawler Gliding club
All A7 Club members & their families are invited to be guests of the Adelaide Soaring Club who manage the Gawler Airfield.
The visit has been organised by a fellow club member, Kevin Haley, who is also a Volunteer with the CFS Aviation Support Team. The Gawler Airfield was the primary airfield for the CFS aviation operation for both the Sampson Flat fire in 2015 and the Pinery Fire earlier this year. Kevin spent many hour at the airfield assisting to gain control of these devastating fires.
AT THE AIRFIELD WE WILL LEARN ABOUT
• GLIDERS AND GLIDING
• ULTRA LIGHT AIRCRAFT
AFTER THIS, COREY DUNN, THE SECOND IN COMMAND OF STATE CFS AVIATION OPERATION, WILL GIVE A TALK AND ANSWER QUESTIONS ON AERIAL FIRE FIGHTING.
All this will be in the clubrooms of the Adelaide Soaring Club should the day be wet and windy.
After this we will go to Kevin & Lyn’s home at Sandy Creek for a sausage sizzle for the charge of $5.00, with all monies going to the Region 2 Air Support Brigade.
Two years ago Kevin organised a club run where we visited the CFS Mount Crawford Airfield, watched a demonstration by Region 2 Air Support Brigade, looked at the million-dollar Forestry SA fire-fighting unit, and then travelled to Lyndoch CFS Fire Station to look at their very modern facilities and their latest equipment. This was a great day and a good number of members attended. July 17 this year’s should be equally as good and I would like to think that a lot more members will take advantage of this offer and attend on the day.
If you plan to attend;
- please let Ralph know ASAP how many people will be with you (required for catering purposes)
- see & print off the attached Run sheet which provides the specific details of the day
